MAYOR

Since being elected Mayor in 2007, I clearly have had one of the best jobs in the country. With over 1.2 million people, Dallas is the country’s 8th largest city and one of the best places in the world to live.

Dallas has the perfect blend of metropolitan sophistication, Southern hospitality, and big flashes of cowboy and Tejano tossed into the mix. This city not only celebrates its diversity, but understands it is one of our most critical assets for competing in a global economy.

CITY COUNCIL

Mary K. Suhm is serving her fourth year as city manager for the City of Dallas. As city manager, Suhm is responsible for the daily operations of the municipal organization. She manages a staff of over 13,000 employees and a budget of $2.65 billion. She was appointed city manager in June 2005 by the Dallas City Council. Prior to her appointment as city manager, Suhm served as interim city manager, first assistant city manager, assistant city manager, executive assistant director of Dallas Police, director of courts, assistant to the
Mayor, and branch library manager for the City of Dallas.

BOARDS, COMMISSIONS & AGENCIES

The City Secretary oversees the process of receiving nominations for all Boards and Commissions, conducting background checks, coordinating with other departments which work directly with each board, and documenting compliance with state law and City Code, such as financial disclosure and ethics rules.
